I am thinking that the dip in Bush's popularity and people's increasing reluctance to be identified as Republican probably reflects the absurdity of the Schiavo case. I mean I'd be seriously embarrassed to be even remotely linked to the politicians who have rudely inserted themselves into an exceedingly painful and personal family situation.

Especially given the blatant hypocrisy of the “pro-family” and “states rights” party in their quest to dictate the decision made by the family and to eliminate the rights of the state of Florida to deal with its own citizens.

Given that this woman could conceivably “live” another 40 years as a vegetable, you might consider this movement to “save” her a pro-torture movement. Let’s keep her body functioning and her soul or spirit trapped here for 40 years of torment. That’s obviously what god intended. Oy.

We have more compassion for murderers on death row.
