...but it really, really seems to pour.

First my wife's Grandfather gets dizzy when he stands for more than a minute or two. The doctors don't know why for a long time, eventually determining that he has a tumor and they remove it. But this takes weeks!

Then my Grandmother has a mild heart attack between Christmas and New Years. The dye they use to diagnose the heart issue shuts down her kidneys. About 5 weeks later she passed away - the funeral is tomorrow.

Today my Dad calls to let me know that my Mom is in the hospital because her kidneys have shut down. The doctors don't know why, and are running tests to figure it out. I talked to her on the phone and she sounds pretty weak.

Through all this I'm trying to concurrently write two editions of a book, prep for various conferences and handle various other work issues.

I know, I'm whining - but it just seems like the universe has decided to really pile it on this time... Just a couple days of dry weather would be seriously welcome about now.

*hugs* I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother and mother, and I hope that the universe provides you with a few sunny days. I'm sorry we're not closer to distract you with baby antics and conversation.

Rocky, Sorry to hear about your grandmother. I hope your mother is doing much better. And maybe that long flight will give you time to catch up on work...

If you read this while you are at your conference, maybe you will have the opportunity enjoy a nice, ripe heirloom tomato. On the tomato forums I'm a part of they keep sending us pictures of their daily harvest from New Zealand and it's killing me. It will be another 5 months at least before I harvest anything so tasty.

Best wishes to you and your family,
