I am an Optimist, which in this case is not only a state of mind, but is also an organization that does cool things with the youth in our community. Today was the annual Hooked on Fishing event organized by the Eden Prairie Optimists. Around 50 kids from ages 1 to 14 were busily catching fish and running them up to be weighed for the contest. The largest fish was a largemouth bass at 20.35 lbs, which was caught by an extremely happy little girl perhaps 5 years old. She was so excited she could hardly contain herself.

Another little guy, of around age 3 or 4, was all dressed in wading boots, a fishing hat, a fish-pattern shirt and coveralls. Not only did he place in his age group, but he was the highlight of the event due to his personality and shining happy face.

What a great way to spend a morning!!
